Contemporary Study Lounge
Artefacto Beach & Country 2012
Brief
In 2012, Brazilian interior designer Nayara Macedo was invited to participate in the exclusive Artefacto Beach & Country Exhibition, a renowned design event that features a curated selection of the most prominent architects and designers.
For this edition, Nayara presented a contemporary study room that blends functionality, minimalism, and artful expression—designed to inspire creativity and elegance in equal measure.

Concept
This study room was envisioned as a sophisticated and dynamic space for focused work, intellectual inspiration, and stylish comfort. The concept merges contemporary design with artistic elements, utilizing sleek materials, modern art, and statement furniture pieces that reflect Nayara Macedo’s signature style. The room is a visual dialogue between bold colors, minimalist geometry, and subtle textures.

Layout & Design Elements:
• The space is divided into a working zone and a contemplative lounge area.
• A custom desk in natural wood anchors the working area, paired with a metal and fiber chair that combines craftsmanship and ergonomic comfort.
• The wall behind the desk features a typographic mural, with layered fonts and words in neutral tones that evoke themes of technology, connection, and communication—perfect for a modern intellectual environment.
• Floating shelves provide both function and visual rhythm, hosting curated design objects, books, and decorative pieces that reinforce the refined yet playful mood.
• A pair of red lacquered bookcases with glass shelving creates a bold color statement, bringing energy and depth to the room.
• The use of neutral tones (gray, sand, taupe) is accented with vibrant red, mustard yellow, and natural textures, creating a harmonious and balanced palette.
• A custom area rug in geometric patterns adds warmth, movement, and grounding to the layout.
Color Palette:
• Base: Soft grays, taupe, and off-white
