Project Overview
This contemporary residence at 900 Biscayne Blvd is a 2,076 sq ft pied-à-terre designed for a Brazilian couple seeking a serene retreat in the heart of Miami. With their primary home in Rio de Janeiro, the clients envisioned this space as a bright and welcoming second residence where they could enjoy the city’s warm weather, ocean views, and vibrant lifestyle. The project scope involved a full interior transformation, turning the empty apartment into a modern, personality-filled haven.

Concept
Rooted in the breathtaking ocean view and the client’s desire for light, open spaces, the design embraces a palette of neutral tones, punctuated by bold accents, layered textures, and curated Brazilian references. The ambiance is airy yet expressive, with art, contrast, and modernist elements adding soul to each environment. The result is a laid-back but sophisticated Miami home that celebrates light, lifestyle, and identity.

Challenges & Solutions
With a double-height ceiling and integrated layout, one of the main design challenges was balancing openness with warmth. Instead of compartmentalizing, the design team enhanced flow while using scale, materiality, and color to define each zone. Another key decision was replacing the expected island setup with a multi-functional dining table — a centerpiece that serves dining, working, and gathering purposes with sculptural elegance.

Design Features by Room
Living Room:
White leather sofa, patterned IKEA rug as a vibrant anchor, and a large abstract painting deliver energy and contrast to an otherwise calm shell.
Dining/Kitchen:
Dark wood cabinetry, marble surfaces, and high-end appliances set the tone for the open-plan kitchen. The dining area features a bold central table — the true hub of daily life.
Bedroom:
A dark green feature wall adds depth to the master suite, softened by linen bedding and bright flooring for a natural, restful vibe.
Terrace:
Spanning the living area, the terrace opens directly to Biscayne Bay, making the view a daily experience. Sleek furnishings and minimal barriers blend inside and out.
