Contemporary house with a Brazilian soul in Miami
Brief
A Brazilian family of five—engineers by profession, global citizens by lifestyle—chose Miami as their new home after living in Europe for nearly a decade. Their request was clear: a contemporary house filled with warmth, identity, and practical solutions for daily life with three young children.

Concept
Designed by Nayara Macedo, the interiors embrace a modern yet soulful approach. The layout remained untouched, but the essence of the home was entirely transformed through customized millwork, curated furniture, and emotional touches like Brazilian art and meaningful textures. The concept blends neutral palettes with pops of personality, and timeless materials that reflect the family’s roots and rhythm.

Layout & Key Features
• Tailored millwork throughout the house for storage, personality, and flow.
• A living room with natural light, neutral tones, and layered textures.
• Children’s bedrooms individually designed to reflect their personalities.
• Functional yet aesthetic choices, such as marble countertops, warm woods, and soft lighting.
• An outdoor area with a pool-facing lounge and dining space, seamlessly connecting interior and exterior.

Highlights
• Art by Brazilian artists such as Rogério Pedro and Marina Lomar
• Furniture from West Elm, Pottery Barn, Harmony Studios, Article, Crate & Barrel
• Custom joinery by local Miami artisans in collaboration with NM DESIGN USA
• A balance of elegance, comfort, and child-friendly practicality

Challenges
The family had already moved in when the project started, so the challenge was to redesign while maintaining functionality. The full transformation was delivered in record time—just 30 days to design and 30 to execute—despite delays in furniture shipping due to the pandemic.
