Smart Coastal Penthouse Renovation in Barra da Tijuca
Brief
This penthouse located on Avenida Lúcio Costa, facing the iconic Barra da Tijuca beach, was originally a one-bedroom apartment. The goal of the project was to transform the entire space into a functional and elegant three-bedroom residence, suitable for a modern lifestyle. The renovation included full interior design, structural upgrades, custom cabinetry, and space optimization.

Concept
The concept blends minimalism and modernity with a coastal flair. A neutral base of whites and soft greys enhances natural light, while select design accents — such as geometric lighting, bold artwork, and clean lines — create visual interest. The result is a space that feels open, calm, and effortlessly stylish.
Layout
The new layout features three bedrooms, a bright and integrated living-dining area, and a gourmet kitchen with custom cabinetry. The glass dining table connects to the living space, creating continuity and openness. The master suite is serene, with a soft palette and natural textures. A private balcony with a spa-style hot tub completes the urban retreat atmosphere.
Challenges
The renovation involved structural reconfiguration, new plumbing and electrical systems, and the complete replacement of all flooring and finishes. The biggest challenge was maximizing the apartment’s limited square footage to fit three bedrooms without compromising style, flow, or natural light.
