Concept
Rooted in Montessori principles, this kids room design balances functionality and creativity. The project embraced an organic and neutral palette inspired by nature, featuring a custom mural with tropical motifs to stimulate imagination. All furniture was selected to be child-accessible, safe, and multifunctional — encouraging independence and a love for learning. The designer personally curated every accessory and completed the styling of the space, including custom-made bedding and pillows developed in the same color palette and thematic language, adding harmony and visual unity to the room.
Layout
The compact space was optimized through clear zoning:
– A cozy sleeping area with twin beds in a house-shaped structure, evoking the feeling of a jungle treehouse.
– A nursing and diaper-changing zone featuring a comfortable armchair and practical dresser.
– A dedicated play area with open shelves and accessible toy storage, fostering self-organization and freedom of movement.
Despite the limited budget and tight deadline, all pieces were carefully curated online to meet aesthetic and functional goals. The result is a timeless and joyful kids room in Miami, blending design and developmental purpose.
